Jump Drive Mercury

Lexar flash drives in contrast to the majority of USB flash drives features an outside data scale, allowing the user to check the remaining data space on the drive. Jump Drive Mercury is first of its kind to feature the electronic paper technology from the E Ink Corporation.

The paper thin, low-power consuming display of the flash drive is controlled by the preloaded software and is not dependent of power source of the CPU.

The data scale, otherwise called "innovative on-board capacity meter" is an easy and comfortable way of telling how much space is available on the flash drive. The most interesting thing is that the capacity meter retains its display after it is unplugged from the power source.

The device is available with a memory capacity of 1GB and 2GB. It is compatible with Windows XP/2000/98SE/ME, Mac OS 9.

The drive comes with free Secure II security software to enhance safety of the stored data. With Secure II the Jump Drive has the ability of creating Encrypted Vaults - multiple password-protected areas. You can encrypt separate files that can be accidentally accessed by unauthorized people. After encryption, Secure II will rank the strength of the password, making use of a color meter.

There is another curious feature: if the password is rated as "too weak", the user shall not be allowed to proceed further.

The case of the Mercury is available is silver color with black stripes along its body. The capacity meter is presented with bars in 20% increments for quick reference.

All in all, regardless of the reduced speed in comparison to its forerunner, Mercury is a good buy for the average user. 2GB of its storage space is more than enough for home and office needs.
